When it comes to journalism, there are obviously various styles of writing.

I’m not talking about an individual writer’s natural style. Everyone has their own chic and to dissect these differences would be impossible. You'd need a chapter on every writer, everywhere in the world.

When I say style, I'm talking about, essentially, news style - how news is written depending on its relevance, timeliness, importance, effect on readers etc. Basically, the different ways newspapers, magazines and other media outlets portray news.

Fundamentally, writing from a journalism point of view can be divided into four types: hard news, news-feature, feature and opinion.

There are others, such as gonzo journalism, which admittedly I don't know much about. But the four main ones are the most common and form the backbone of a news organisation's output.
