Sports Centre presenters driving me nutsJanuary 26, 2007, from Going NutsMr Careem,
please, please
start a course for sports commentators and presenters. Those
bozos at Sports Centre, the twice-nightly cringeathon aired by ESPN
STAR
Sports (ESS), are driving me crazy. I do not
know who gave the order to dumb down the sports news, or why, but
presenters Colette Wong, Uday Joshi and Steve Dawson have obliged to
the full. The inane
jokes, insane laughing and, in the case of Colette, insufferable
SHOUTING, put the programme off limits to anybody who treasures their
sanity. Okay,
sometimes I tune in to watch the action but rarely do I subject myself
to
the idiocy that characterises the on screen personas of Wong, Joshi and
Dawson. Sports
news can be presented soberly and sensibly yet still be entertaining,
an
art form perfected by the anchors of CNN”s highly watchable World
Sport. There will
be an argument that ESS and CNN are targeting different audiences
but surely there is not a huge strait-jacketed viewership out there
watching
television in padded rooms. Yet, that
seems to be the only demographic that Sports Centre would appeal to
such is the raving madness of the presenters. So, Mr
Careem, take on the task of grooming the next generation of sports
presenters who are in it to inform not for laughs. Or, at the
very least, start a campaign to banish Wong, Joshi, Dawson, along
with that equally imbecilic Andy Penders, from our screens. The opinions stated in the "Your Shout" section does not necessarily reflect the opinions of News Writers Post and/or Nazvi Careem. Email your comments to nazvi@newswriterspost.com. If you'd like to write something for posting, email as well, and I'll stick it in Your Shout. Please specify "comment" or "Your Shout". Keep it clean and politically correct please. You are, however, allowed to write negatively about motorists who drive at 80km/h (50mph) on the fast lane. Also, if anyone can show me how to put up those cool "post your comments" boxes, it'll be of great help. Nazvi Careem, Jan 26, 2007, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. |
